About The Mindful Mug
Our Story
I’m Charlotte, a mother to two lively boys, Louie, who is 10, and Luca, who is just 1. I love them dearly and cherish every moment we spend together, but I am not built for full-time motherhood. Balancing their needs with my own is a constant challenge, and I often find myself yearning for adult conversation, stimulating discussions that ignite my passion and creativity. I crave a sense of purpose and fulfillment beyond the daily routines of parenting; I want a reason to get up in the morning that extends beyond catering to someone else’s needs. While I enjoy the joy and chaos my boys bring into my life, I believe that nurturing my own identity and ambitions is just as important as being a devoted mother. In seeking my own interests and goals, I hope to set a positive example for my children, showing them the importance of balance and self-fulfillment.
I graduated from The University of Lincoln in September 2024 in psychology. I received a 2:2, not that great, but hey, I did it with a newborn; I love a challenge, and it was an incredible journey filled with sleepless nights and papers to write – I was up anyway might as well have a purpose to it. Balancing the demands of motherhood with academia was no easy feat, but every late-night study session, tearful breakdowns and exhaustion was worth it when i walked across that stage. I am thankful I didn’t listen to those around me who suggested taking a year off; their intention was good, but I felt a strong determination to finish what I set out to do, I knew in my heart if I took the year out I never would have gone back. Now, with Luca on the move, I could not imagine getting any work done when he is home with me! He is curious and energetic, demanding all of my attention, whilst I am not made for being a full time mum, I cherish every moment with my boys, knowing that my dedication has set a strong foundation for our future.
Safe to say I love a challenge.
My journey through life has made me a strong advocate for mental well-being, and through the ups and downs, I’ve learned the importance of nurturing one’s mind just as much as the body. Maybe one day I will share my full story with you, as it encompasses the struggles, victories, and everything in between. It has been quite a journey to get here, and I never imagined myself opening a cafe, a dream that seemed so distant and unattainable in the past. But life works in mysterious ways! My journey with ADHD, which has often posed challenges, alongside my passion for supporting others and not wanting to work for someone else full-time, led me to create The Mindful Mug—a space designed to nurture both body and mind, allowing others to find solace in a warm cup of coffee and a welcoming atmosphere. This cafe is not just a place to grab a drink; it’s a community hub where like-minded souls gather to share their stories, find comfort, and connect over their experiences. There is a great story behind it, filled with inspiration and hope, and I am excited to share it with you one day soon, as I believe it resonates with many who seek to find their own path in the journey of life.
I wanted to build a café that’s more than just a place to grab a drink; it’s a space where people can find calm, community, and a sense of belonging.
